As an IT Systems Manager — focus on Linux and networking (m/f/d), we are looking for you with a task split of Linux administration (70%) — focusing on operation, maintenance and further development of our Linux infrastructure — and network administration (30%) to manage the external service provider and implement straightforward firewall/network requirements.
You manage services and users via the command line on Debian/Ubuntu and RHEL/Rocky Linux.
You secure SSH access, debug SSH issues and resolve them (SSH debugging).
You manage and operate filesystems (LVM2).
You operate Apache, MariaDB, Tomcat, Postfix, BIND and OpenSSH; configure management with Puppet; and support developers with Docker, GitLab and Git.
You consolidate firewall rules in the Palo Alto firewall together with network service providers and configure the rules.
You coordinate the external network service provider.
You perform network troubleshooting and analysis using tcpdump and Wireshark; administer switches in collaboration with our service provider; and create and maintain technical documentation.
Requirements
You have vocational training as an IT specialist (Fachinformatiker) or a degree in computer science.
You have solid Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu, RHEL/Rocky) and ideally hold an LPIC or equivalent certification.
You have practical experience in SSH management, filesystems (LVM2) and common services (Apache, MariaDB, Tomcat, Postfix, BIND, OpenSSH).
You are familiar with Puppet or similar configuration management tools; you are proficient with Docker, GitLab and Git from a developer’s perspective.
You have basic knowledge of security best practices and methods for hardening Linux systems.
