Transportation Manager

Role Overview

• Serve as a contact point for all workers within a particular area
• Investigate, verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints
• Oversee daily outbound transportation operations to ensure service and cost targets are met
• Negotiate and manage contracts with LTL, TL, and parcel carriers
• Develop and manage transportation budget, identifying cost reduction opportunities
• Partner with planning and customer service teams to align shipment schedules with customer requirements
• Utilize TMS, YMS, and WMS platforms to track shipments and manage documentation
• Lead, coach, and develop transportation team members
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, including on-time delivery and cost
• Responsible for weekly and monthly reports required by the controller

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of transportation or logistics experience
• Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and advanced Microsoft Excel
• WMS experience preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience with strong focus on team development and accountability
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong geographic knowledge
• Demonstrated sound judgment, strong work ethic, and high integrity.
