About this role
Role Overview
Respond to user-reported database errors and issues in a timely manner.
Perform routine database maintenance including upgrades, backups, recovery, and migration procedures.
Protect databases against unauthorized access and potential security threats.
Ensure databases are adequately backed up and recoverable in the event of data loss.
Monitor and report on database performance and usage metrics.
Profile server resource usage and optimize configurations and database engines as necessary.
Write, review, and optimize in-application SQL statements to improve performance.
Design databases with consideration for both front-end and back-end user requirements.
Suggest and implement improvements for database maintenance and protection.
Collaborate with IT project managers, database programmers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
5 years of experience in SQL database administration.
Experience with modern relational databases and SQL Server 2008 or higher.
Proficiency in writing and optimizing large, complex SQL statements.
Knowledge of best practices for relational database management and security.
Ability to configure popular database engines and orchestrate clusters as necessary.
Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications.
Capable of troubleshooting common database issues independently.
Familiarity with tools used for profiling server resource usage and performance optimization.
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GitLab.
Familiarity with SSIS packages.
Proficiency with Windows 10 as a desktop and laptop operating system.
