Develop innovative mechanical designs for power electronics, electrical distribution and integrated test equipment with challenging requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in PTC Creo and create and manage parts and BoMs in Siemens Teamcenter PLM system.
Perform engineering analyses using a combination of hand calculations and software tools.
Develop test plans and support physical testing of prototypes to validate your designs.
Collaborate with the product and project managers to deliver customer requirements on time and to budget.
Use of engineering tools and processes to optimise engineering throughput and quality, and ensure that DFMA techniques are implemented in the design process.
Act as a technical point of contact for all mechanical engineering topics related to project work.
Requirements
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or relevant experience in a mechanical design engineering environment.
Significant engineering experience with good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheetmetal design, DFMA and material selection.
A strong track record in product development, ideally gained in the industrial or electrical equipment sectors.
The ability to read electrical schematics and use them to develop suitable mechanical designs.
Proficiency in the use of PTC Creo, or similar 3D CAD software for the creation of 3D part and assembly models and 2D drawings.
Good engineering, communication, and organisational skills.
You must be a UK national and be eligible to obtain UK security clearance to at least SC level.
