Prepare and review of various financial reports, including statutory, GAAP, and management reports, for HIMCO
Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, SSAP) and regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, SEC)
Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to financial reporting
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insightful explanations for variances to senior management
Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting reporting function
Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required by management
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices
Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Master's degree or CPA preferred
4+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting, preferably within investment/insurance industry
Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and statutory reporting requirements (NAIC)
Proven experience with GAAP financial reporting and SEC regulations (if applicable)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint; TM1, Wdesk, and Copilot is a plus
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present complex financial information
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
