About this role
Role Overview
- Handle claims from coverage enquiry through legal liability assessment and quantum analysis
- Ensure timely and accurate resolution of claims
- Confirm coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents
- Negotiate and settle claims typically in litigation
- Evaluate information on coverage, liability, and damages
- Provide training and be a technical referral point for other team members
- Participate in special projects having an impact on the business
- Represent Markel at mediations, trials, and conferences
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus
- Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license
- Successful achievement of industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU)
- Minimum of 5 years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Successful completion of 3 years as a Claims Examiner
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience in negotiation, mediations and monitoring trials
- Strong litigation management skills
