Prepare sub-ledger and general ledger journal entries; reconcile general ledger accounts; research and correct account discrepancies, participate in month end close process.
Provide support for internal and external audits.
Perform and document internal controls related to assigned accounting job functions.
Work collaboratively with senior staff and management by providing resolutions for accounting discrepancies.
Responsible for reinsurance and general insurance accounting.
Prepare schedules for quarterly and annual NAIC filings.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline i.e. Accounting, Finance, Business.
Minimum of 2-5 years in Accounting preferably in the insurance industry, relating to statutory and GAAP.
Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles, accounting procedures, and the laws and regulations that apply to accounting and regulatory compliance.
Intermediate analytical skills to accurately analyze large volumes of numerical data.
Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
Knowledge in utilizing accounting systems for transaction processing.
Analytical with attention to detail, strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to manage recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
