Role Overview
- Lead design efforts for civil site design projects (commercial, residential, and industrial)
- Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools per code requirements and IMEG standards
- Complete and oversee permit applications with the project team, client, and reviewing jurisdictions
- Perform surface modeling, watershed modeling, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design
- Support projects through bidding and construction administration
- Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong working relationships
- Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and client direction while monitoring percent complete and fee expended
- Analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers/consultants on practical approaches
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance by interpreting state/local design criteria and applying them to project needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned with project goals; identify potential project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills in the civil engineering field
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Ability to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
