About this role
Role Overview
Perform audits of halal food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic facilities, supply chains, and related processes to ensure compliance with applicable halal and quality standards (e.g., OIC/SMIIC, GSO, SJPH, etc.)
Evaluate documentation, procedures, and practices to verify adherence to halal certification requirements
Assess the effectiveness of Halal Management Systems (HMS) and identify areas for improvement
Prepare detailed audit reports, including non-conformities, observations, and recommendations for corrective actions
Communicate audit findings to clients and provide guidance on achieving and maintaining compliance
Provide technical support and advice to clients on implementing and improving halal systems
Verify that corrective actions have been implemented effectively to address non-conformities
Ensure that certified organizations maintain ongoing compliance with applicable standards
Participate in training and professional development to maintain auditing competence
Work closely with certification body teams, including other auditors, technical managers, and certification decision-makers
Support the development and improvement of audit protocols and certification processes
Travel to client sites, including domestic and international locations, to conduct on-site audits
Requirements
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or a related field
Additional certifications in halal auditing (e.g., lead auditor, FSSC 22000, or equivalent) are highly desirable
Prior experience as a halal and/or food quality auditor or experience implementing halal and/or food safety management systems
In-depth understanding of halal principles, halal dietary laws, and halal production requirements
Knowledge of halal and food safety standards (e.g., GSO, OIC/SMIIC, ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC, FSSC 22000, etc.)
Familiarity with halal production processes, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently
Proficiency in report writing and documentation
Ethical and impartial, with a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the certification process
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Willingness to travel frequently to client sites, including remote or rural locations
