Assist with the review and compilation of annual mine capital budgets and Long-Range Plan estimates.
Support the corporate stage gate process by tracking project milestones, maintaining status logs, and preparing structured progress reports for senior leadership on cost, schedule, and scope adherence.
Assist with conceptual and preliminary engineering studies across mining, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
Serve as a coordination resource between the corporate projects team and mine site engineering staff.
Maintain and update capital cost estimating tools, benchmarking datasets, and project tracking spreadsheets.
Assist with post-investment reviews (PIRs) of completed projects by gathering data, documenting outcomes versus objectives, and compiling lessons learned for future planning.
Assist in developing scopes of work for consultants and contractors and track proposal evaluations, contract deliverables, and vendor performance against schedule and quality expectations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering desired.
3–5 years of experience in capital project planning, design, or execution in heavy industry; mining experience preferred.
EIT certification or progress toward P.E. or P.Eng. designation is a plus.
Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals across at least one primary discipline (mining, civil, mechanical, or electrical).
Understanding of capital project development concepts, including scope definition, cost estimating classes, and the owner's perspective on project delivery.
Ability to assist with Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling; exposure to project scheduling software or methodology is a plus.
Basic proficiency with Earned Value Analysis (EVA) or other project performance measurement concepts.
Strong spreadsheet and data management skills; comfortable building and maintaining financial tracking tools and estimate models.
Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare organized technical summaries and status reports.
Some proficiency in Spanish and/or French is beneficial given Hecla's operating footprint.
