The Consultant supports the delivery of high-quality consultancy projects that provide clear, relevant and commercially valuable insight to clients across the energy sector.
The role combines analysis, research and client-facing delivery to help organisations understand market developments, assess commercial opportunities and make informed strategic decisions.
Working as part of Cornwall Insight’s consulting team, the Consultant contributes to projects across a range of areas including market entry, investment appraisal, regulatory change, energy policy and broader sector research.
The role requires strong analytical capability, clear communication and the ability to work effectively across multiple projects in a fast-moving and evolving market.
The Consultant works closely with colleagues across consulting, research and modelling to deliver high-quality outputs for clients, while developing sector expertise and increasing ownership of client work over time.
The role also supports the growth of consultancy activity by contributing to proposals, market engagement and identifying opportunities to extend the value of client relationships.
Requirements
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret and present complex qualitative and quantitative information.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to communicate analysis clearly in writing and verbally to internal and external audiences.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Professional and confident approach to working with clients and colleagues.
Interest in, and commitment to developing expertise in, energy markets, regulation and commercial issues.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
Degree level education or equivalent relevant experience, ideally in an analytical, commercial, economic, policy or related discipline.
Experience working within the energy sector, consultancy or a relevant commercial, analytical or policy environment.
Experience of undertaking research and analysis and turning findings into clear written or verbal outputs
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Experience in areas such as flexibility markets, battery storage, electric vehicles, policy or regulation would be advantageous.
Experience contributing to multidisciplinary project work would be beneficial.
