About this role
Role Overview
- Lead and manage a team of managers and engineers responsible for core pieces of Snowflake's control plane and query serving infrastructure
- Ensuring operational readiness of the services and meeting the commitments to our customers regarding availability and performance
- Be comfortable with delegating decisions for part of what is under your leadership to others
- Define and execute the technical strategy for Cloud Services, ensuring alignment with Snowflake's overall vision and goals
- Partner with other leaders in the Engineering and Product organizations on quarterly planning, staffing, and project schedules
- Grow the team by recruiting and hiring new team members and growing existing ones
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning while also promoting practical decision making
Requirements
- 15+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production
- 5+ years of experience managing managers and leading technical teams
- Strong background in coding and problem-solving, with the ability to provide technical guidance and oversight
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with internal customers, engineers, non-technical team members, and executives
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver exceptional results
- Excellent understanding of low level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale
- BS / MS in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience
