Interpreter – Spanish

Role Overview

• Provide interpretation within the Monterey, CA area to reach individuals with a language barrier.
• Facilitate effective communication between individuals experiencing language barriers and organizations, agencies, or service providers.
• Ensure accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation of spoken or signed language in various settings, including education, healthcare, legal proceedings, social services, and environmental discussions.
• Adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality standards while contributing to equitable access to resources.

Requirements

• High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience
• Medical Interpreting Training School
• Foreign Service Institute Certification
• Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.
• Oregon Health Authority.
• Oregon Health Care Interpreter.
• Experience with State Department experience/ refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must possess problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
• Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.
