Support the deployment, operations, and maintenance of AWS-based infrastructure for mission-critical systems supporting the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA).
Focus on maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable cloud environments while supporting hybrid cloud integration, automation, and modernization initiatives.
Deploy, configure, and support AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch to maintain system availability and performance.
Administer and support Linux-based systems in AWS environments, including patching, configuration, and performance tuning.
Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible.
Support cloud networking configurations including VPC design, DNS, load balancing, VPN connectivity, and integration with on-premises environments.
Utilize AWS CloudWatch and enterprise tools (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds) to monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and support incident response activities.
Implement and support security controls aligned with NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP requirements, including IAM management, logging, and encryption.
Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies including snapshot management, replication, and failover testing.
Assist with cloud optimization activities including resource right-sizing, utilization analysis, and use of AWS tools such as Cost Explorer and Savings Plans.
Support cloud deployments and automation pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD platforms.
Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and architecture diagrams; collaborate effectively across infrastructure, cybersecurity, and development teams.
Participate in an on-call rotation supporting cloud infrastructure operations and incident response.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5 years of IT infrastructure experience with at least 1–3 years supporting AWS environments.
Experience with AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch).
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, load balancing).
Experience with Linux system administration in cloud or virtualized environments.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and/or configuration management tools (Ansible).
Experience or familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Must be able to present acceptable identification for customer badging and site access.
