Role Overview
Utilize mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, electronics packaging and/or array integration
Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of phase array radars/electronics for multiple military programs
Help create the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, component selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, electrical/RF layout, and delivering the final technical data package
Employ transition-to-production practices with the ability to lead a design release into production
Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals with ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work
Prepare proposal inputs on behalf of the product area
Provide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements while helping to remove roadblocks
Perform complex tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application
Interact with senior personnel, occasionally including external customers, on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
Requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
A minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
Minimum of 3 years in the design of radar architecture or electronics packaging for military or aerospace or commercial applications
Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T experience in practice
Experience with ANSI drawing standards and technical data package creation
First order structural analysis techniques
Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software
Familiarity with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, mechanical/RF components, metal housings, structures, and electronics assemblies, metal fabrications and joining techniques
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
