Role Overview
Making well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice, following the journal’s editorial policy and standards.
Contribute developing editorial policies and guidelines for research involving AI and computational sciences, with a focus on open science.
Make accepted manuscripts accessible to a broad computer science readership by advising authors on titles, abstracts, introductions, and structure, as well as ensuring high overall reporting standards.
Help recruit, support, and engage a team of external editors, guiding and assisting them with the tasks listed above and ensuring they understand and implement the journal’s philosophy and policies.
Commissioning various content including Reviews, Perspectives and Comment articles.
Attend conferences and meetings and visit research institutions (in agreement with the Chief Editor) and report on these activities.
Broadcast published works by curating and suggesting publications for press releases or Research Highlights.
Contribute editorial content to special projects or collections as agreed with the Chief Editor.
Requirements
PhD level research experience in computational social science, computational neuroscience, and/or computational linguistics, with strengths in AI ethics and human-machine interaction.
Editorial experience, postdoctoral experience, and broad training will be an advantage but not an essential requirement.
The ability to read and assess the novelty, context, and implications of research submitted to the journal from different disciplines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English (written and spoken).
