Lead civil engineering scope development for utility-scale solar, BESS, and substation projects from early development through construction completion.
Serve as technical authority for site grading, drainage, hydrology, foundations, roads, fencing, equipment pads, and underground utilities.
Review and approve civil engineering design packages, calculations, and reports for code compliance, constructability, and value optimization.
Act as Engineer of Record (EOR) as required and oversee delegated engineering responsibilities.
Provide alternative engineering solutions and value-engineering recommendations to reduce cost, schedule risk, and construction complexity.
Interface directly with civil, geotechnical, and structural subconsultants to ensure design intent and EPC requirements are met.
Support preliminary site layouts, site constraints mapping, and buildable area assessments.
Assist estimating teams with civil assumptions, allowances, and risk identification.
Develop and refine civil engineering scopes of work aligned with EPC contracts.
Support EPC contract review, negotiations, and clarifications related to civil scope, risk allocation, and constructability.
Conduct site visits to observe construction progress and verify conformance with design documents.
Review topographic surveys, grading plans, drainage features, and post/foundation elevations to ensure alignment with design intent.
Lead, mentor, and develop civil engineers, designers, and technical staff.
Plan and allocate engineering resources across multiple active projects.
Provide technical coaching, performance feedback, and career development guidance.
Coordinate workload forecasting, staffing needs, and engineering budgets with leadership.
Serve as primary civil engineering point of contact for internal stakeholders, clients, AHJs, and regulatory agencies.
Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and project leadership meetings.
Communicate risks, design challenges, and mitigation strategies to project leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or other similar discipline.
Professional Civil Engineering license required.
Minimum 10-12+ years of experience.
Proficient using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Proficient using Autodesk Civil 3D.
Proficient using QGIS or ArcGIS Pro
Experience with industry typical stormwater software such as HydroCAD or similar software.
Demonstrated experience leading projects & teams from early development through construction.
