About this role
Role Overview
Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering a collaborative culture to drive innovation in global network operations.
Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and addressing risks and vulnerabilities.
Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to maintain reliable and secure cloud and on-prem networks.
Ensure uninterrupted operation of the network in cloud and data centres, implementing strategies for maintenance, upgrades, and scalability.
Efficiently manage network outages, minimizing impact on business operations.
Lead capacity planning efforts, aligning network resources with business requirements.
Collaborate cross-functionally to plan and execute global network projects.
Drive network optimizations, including location moves, consolidations, and enhancements.
Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Conduct regular testing and exercises to validate the effectiveness of plans.
Analyze network performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Serve as a point of escalation for incidents, coordinating response efforts.
Implement best practices, automate processes, and stay current with network technologies.
Act as a strategic liaison between the team and senior executives.
Foster communication and collaboration across departments to address cross-functional challenges.
Collaborate with vendors to ensure reliable network services for cloud and global data centres.
Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to senior executives, summarizing network performance and ongoing projects.
Provide actionable recommendations to improve the stability of network operations.
Align network operations with strategic goals and objectives.
Participate in executive meetings for planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Work closely with senior executives to manage the budget for network operations.
Justify investment requests, highlighting ROI and business benefits.
Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
Implement network monitoring tools to track network performance metrics and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
Develop and enforce network operations policies, procedures, and standards to maintain the efficiency and security of the cloud network.
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and resolve network-related service issues.
Lead and mentor a team of network engineers and administrators, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure timely completion of network-related projects and initiatives.
Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and cross-training to enhance team performance.
Requirements
Masters/bachelor’s degree in information & computer science
10+ years of technical hands-on network support
5+ years as previous network architect experience
5+ years in technical management of network operations
4+ years' experience in deploying cloud networks and operational support
7+ years of leading and managing global teams
7+ years of IT operational delivery support
7+ years of Customer Service and Leadership
Strong understanding of cloud and on-prem networking, including troubleshooting skills
Experience in successfully deploying and managing networking in a global data centre environment and public clouds such as AWS and Azure
Familiarity with ITIL disciplines and best practices
Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills in a diverse and large-scale enterprise environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with senior executive leadership
Experience in managing outsourced vendors and environments for network support
Strong operational ability in managing a complex and geographically dispersed enterprise network environment
Strong decision-making and operational skills
Self-starter, motivator, and ability to work independently or in a team
Proven experience in cloud network operations management, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment
Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
In-depth understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies
Familiarity with network monitoring tools, such as Data Dog, Thousand Eyes and PRTG
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and address network performance issues
Experience in building strong global technical teams to support cloud and on-prem networking
Strong knowledge of cloud networking and support for Azure and AWS.
