Build a cohesive team to conduct the outreach mission of the Department of Entomology, supervising the Columbus and Wooster outreach teams.
Provide hands-on leadership, management, and innovation of Entomology’s public outreach activities.
Develop intentional educational outreach activities focused on STEAM disciplines.
Collaborate with campus and community partners to ensure programming aligns with the CFAES and university's extension mission.
Ensure programming and animal care adhere to appropriate safety standards and university, state, and federal policy compliance.
Work with fiscal officer to oversee budget for area and manage resources effectively.
Participate in student recruitment activities and assist with marketing and communication activities.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
3 years of relevant experience required, 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
Must be comfortable working with live arthropod species, including insects, spiders, as well as other invertebrates, amphibians, and reptiles both exotic and native.
Must have experience maintaining live cultures of captive invertebrates.
Lift and carry 40 pounds and be able to stand and walk for extended lengths of time.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
5+ years’ experience developing and providing entomology outreach and evaluating programming preferred.
Knowledge of the U.S.D.A. APHIS recordkeeping and permitting requirements related to exotic invertebrate species preferred.
Budgetary and fundraising experience preferred.
Experience managing a team of outreach professionals including managing students and volunteers preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate with diverse clientele.
