Direct the television team and establish the editorial plan each day.
Work with regional assignment producers to determine story treatments and deliverables.
Manage story development with reporters and work with the host and lineup producer to refine focus, angles, and structure.
Write, vet, and review scripts, stories and question lines for the shows.
Work closely with the host to support delivery and performance and brainstorm and develop special programming, series, etc.
Collaborate with the TV lineup producer to determine the look, feel, style, pace and format of the program.
Guide and support the team with ongoing feedback.
Requirements
A university degree or an equivalent of education and experience, plus five years of practical and relevant experience in journalism, including broadcast news.
Demonstrated experience leading a team or unit and proven ability to direct others.
Demonstrated experience in video story development.
An ability to work overtime as required.
