Part Time Profee Ophthalmology Medical Coder

Role Overview

• Provide coding and abstracting services for clients on physician medical records using ICD 10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems
• Participate in industry forums and support coding education within the team
• Reviews medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's health care encounter
• Ensures appropriate DRG assignment
• Responsible for utilizing applications to enter charts coded in real-time throughout the scheduled shift
• Solicit clarification from the physician regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation
• Maintain current knowledge of the information contained in the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
• Responsible for keeping coding credentials up to date and active

Requirements

• 3 years of related coding experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to code Clinic E&M and CPT with modifiers.
• Experience coding Profee Ophthalmology charts
• Epic with 3M, 360 experience required
• Understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPS and CPT coding principles and guidelines
• Must pass a coding proficiency test
