Act as a subject matter expert for Canadian defined benefit pension plans within ProVal
Maintain and enhance ProVal’s Canadian functionality to reflect current legislation, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and pension related financial reporting requirements
Serve as a primary point of contact for Canadian clients on technical pension matters
Test ProVal enhancements and client specific solutions to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consistency with actuarial standards
Provide expert guidance to ProVal users on Canadian pension applications
Work closely with programmers and consultants to design and implement client solutions
Prepare and maintain clear, practical user documentation and training materials
Optional: ProVal is coded primarily in APL; no prior programming experience is required, and training is provided
Requirements
8+ years of experience performing actuarial valuations of defined benefit pension plans under Canadian legislation
Deep knowledge of Canadian pension funding rules, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and pension related financial reporting
Experience with pension projections and forecasting a plus
Experience managing projects and professional relationships is an asset
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi disciplinary team environment
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related discipline
CIA designation (FCIA) or significant progress toward qualification is a plus
