Develops, and administers security programs and procedures for classified or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment.
Studies and implements federal security regulations that apply to company operations.
Obtains rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations from government agencies.
Prepares manuals outlining regulations, and establishes procedures for handling, storing, and keeping records, and for granting personnel and visitors access to restricted records and materials.
Conducts security education classes and security audits.
Investigates security violations and prepares reports specifying preventive action to be taken.
The successful candidate will serve as the program security officer for several classified programs at Newport News Shipbuilding.
The Program Security Officer (PSO) will be responsible for:
Execution of all security related administrative and operational procedures for NNS special programs
Coordination with program managers for program specific security support (development of program security guidance, access requests, incident reporting, etc)
Ensure critical decisions align with senior leadership strategy before implementation
Coordination of classified VTCs and classified meeting support
Support for department security functions such as clearance processing, training, etc
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience
NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Preferred Candidate will have:
Active TOP SECRET clearance (SCI eligibility or ability to gain SCI eligibility highly preferred)
Experience with DoD special security programs and procedures
Experience with DoD classified facility requirements
Familiarity with DoD classified information system requirements
