Advisory & APC implementation: Analyze refinery processes, develop innovative control strategies and implement APC systems — from requirements analysis through to commissioning.
Development of advanced control algorithms: Design and implement temperature, pressure and flow controllers as well as complex multivariable control scenarios for refineries, hydrocrackers and platforming units (reformers).
Process optimization: Assess existing plants, identify optimization potential and implement measures to improve efficiency, safety and profitability — with consideration of economic impacts.
Hydrogen network management: Specialized development of control strategies for hydrogen distribution networks to ensure a stable and cost-effective supply.
Customer handover & knowledge transfer: Train customer teams, document solutions and provide active support during the commissioning phase.
Requirements
Deep APC expertise: Several years (at least 3 years) of proven experience with APC systems and a thorough understanding of control theory and basic control loops.
Chemical/process engineering & refinery processes: Strong process engineering knowledge with specialized expertise in hydrocrackers, platforming units and hydrogen networks.
Control systems & programming: Hands-on experience with DCS and PLC systems.
Solid programming skills (Python, C, C++, IEC 61131-3 or similar).
Process simulation: Experience with process simulation tools and development of dynamic process models to validate control algorithms.
Economic awareness: Ability to understand economic decision-making and translate technical solutions into financial impacts.
Project experience: Demonstrated track record in delivering industrial projects — from requirements analysis to start-up, ideally including retrofit projects.
Communication: Excellent communication skills with technicians and management. German (native level) and fluent English.
