Ensures the on-time delivery of an assigned list of projects that are produced within budget and meet Springer Nature quality standards.
Tracks book process from post-acquisition through production to post-publication.
Utilizes thorough project management skills to proactively resolve post-acquisition, production, and post-publication issues.
Advocates for and fosters Springer Nature standards, makes sure that they are correctly used.
Oversees vendor performance through to agreed upon publication deadlines and provides feedback with emphasis on standardization and efficiency.
Communicates with Authors/Editors, Vendors, Publishing Editorial, and other Stakeholders as required.
Requirements
Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
Ability to work effectively in a complex, diverse, and dynamic environment.
Strong problem-solving and organizational, i.e. priority-oriented, skills.
Ability to manage multiple and diverse projects at the same time.
Adherence to schedules and quality also when under time pressure.
Experience in book production and cooperating with acquisition editors and (mostly offshore/Indian) full-service vendors.
Solid understanding of print and online publishing formats & tools (XML, HTML, ePub).
Experience with MS-office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), LaTeX and PDF.
Interest in content & process management and workflow systems and their optimization.
Keeping up to date with procedural and technical upgrades.
Mentoring & supporting vendor staff, and guide authors & editors as well as publishing colleagues on policies & production standards (copyediting, typesetting, printing).
