Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of capital construction projects across acute care hospital facilities, ranging from $500K to $100M
Partner with hospital CEOs, COOs, and clinical leaders to define project scope and translate operational and clinical needs into construction plans
Develop preliminary budgets, scope documentation, and capital requests to support funding approvals
Select, negotiate, and manage contracts with architects, engineers, general contractors, and consultants
Oversee all phases of projects including pre-design, design, and construction to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
Coordinate cross-functional teams including hospital administration, clinical stakeholders, contractors, and design professionals
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to maintain timelines and financial targets
Review and approve project bids, change orders, and invoices to ensure accuracy and adherence to contract terms
Conduct routine site visits to evaluate construction progress, quality, safety, and contractor performance
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, building codes, and safety standards (e.g., JCAHO, ADA, OSHA, NFPA)
Maintain ongoing communication with hospital leadership to provide updates, manage expectations, and support operational continuity during construction
Support inspections, resolve code-related issues, and represent the organization with local and state authorities
Manage multiple concurrent projects (approximately 15–20) with a total capital portfolio of ~$100M
Maintain detailed financial records and reporting related to project costs and capital expenditures
Requirements
5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a strong preference for healthcare or acute care hospital environments
Prior experience working for a general contractor or managing construction projects from the contractor side strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience managing renovation and/or expansion projects within active facilities
Working knowledge of healthcare construction standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., JCAHO, ADA, OSHA, NFPA)
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate diverse stakeholders across all levels of an organization
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with executives, clinicians, and construction professionals
Experience with budgeting, cost control, and contract management (experience can be developed on the job)
Ability to assess risk and make decisions from an owner’s perspective rather than a contractor or design viewpoint
High level of problem-solving ability and sound judgment in complex, fast-paced environments
Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 25% as needed for project oversight.
