Provide scientific and technical support to conduct interagency consultations under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Magnuson-Stevens Act (MSA), Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), Federal Power Act (FPA), and NEPA.
Review, gather, analyze, and synthesize scientific data to evaluate environmental impacts to listed species and habitats
Draft ESA Biological Opinions, Letters of Concurrence, and MSA responses
Review Biological Assessments and consultation packages
Provide pre-consultation technical assistance to action agencies
Prepare NEPA documentation (EAs/EISs)
Draft permits and supporting materials for ESA section 10 activities
Coordinate with NMFS Science Centers, engineers, and interagency partners
Maintain administrative records and consultation tracking systems
Participate in meetings with federal, tribal, and state stakeholders
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ experience OR Master’s degree in aquatic biology, conservation biology, fisheries management, wildlife management or related field of study with 1+ years of experience relating to the specific task order
Knowledge of salmonid general life cycles and habitat requirements
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Valid state driver’s license
Experience drafting ESA and NEPA regulatory documents
Knowledge of ESA, MSA, NEPA, and related statutes
Experience evaluating impacts to salmonids and aquatic habitats
Experience working with federal, tribal, and state partners
