Conducting multidisciplinary technical coordination for the development of preliminary and detailed design deliverables for transmission line projects, including electrical, civil, structural, geotechnical, and line design disciplines
Developing safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgment to perform tasks including line routing, structure selection, conductor selection, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on medium
to highly complex projects
Resolving highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, and recommending safe engineering solutions to support successful project completion
Delivering exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of engineering services, establishing design criteria (e.g., loading, clearances, routing), reviewing technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on progress to support safe, high-quality, on-time, and on-budget project delivery
Coordinating design reviews, both internal and with clients, ensuring transmission line designs conform to applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and CIMA+’s quality management system
Collaborating closely with the Project Manager to align scope, schedule, cost, risks, and engineering deliverables
Structuring engineering Work Packages and supporting development of the overall Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Coordinating across engineering disciplines to ensure alignment of scope and deliverables
Managing technical interfaces between disciplines, other functional areas, and stakeholders
Acting as the primary interface with the Owner’s Engineering Team
Developing engineering cost estimates, scope of work descriptions, and engineering schedules for proposals
Monitoring project progress and performance against established terms of reference and work plans
Monitoring quality and completeness of engineering deliverables and applying rigorous QA/QC practices to meet stage gate and quality requirements
Identifying, monitoring, and resolving technical issues that may affect project budgets and timelines within established milestones
Consulting with clients, regulatory authorities, land agencies, and other stakeholders to support project execution, permitting, and effective information exchange
Collaborating with the client’s engineering team to address complex transmission line engineering challenges, providing practical, solutions-oriented support to manage and mitigate risks
Supporting the Construction Management team by coordinating engineering inputs, addressing site issues, and facilitating timely responses to RFIs and field changes
