Role Overview
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Litigation Paralegal at Jimerson Birr, you will be a billable, revenue-generating member of the legal operations team; not simply a support function, but an essential producer. ****
You will manage the full lifecycle of litigation matters across commercial disputes, creditor rights, construction, real estate, and related practice areas, working alongside attorneys to deliver results for JB clients.**
Responsibilities:
Revenue & Production:
- Meet individual revenue and production targets.
- Maintain a minimum of 1,500 billable hours annually (30 hrs/week).
- Record time daily with accurate narratives and minimize write-downs through disciplined, efficient work.
Matter Management & Client Satisfaction:
- Own your matters.
- Monitor your work queue and dashboards, track client budgets, maintain matter data accuracy in Litify (matter management software), confirm mid-phase milestones, and ensure every file is organized to firm standards.
- You are a vested stakeholder in achieving client satisfaction KPIs.
Client Communication Conduit:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on your assigned matters.
- Deliver proactive status updates, manage the client portal so clients always have current case information, and uphold JB's communication standards in every interaction.
Process & Product Improvement:
- Actively contribute to improving matter plans, templates, forms, and workflows.
- Participate in JB University training cycles.
- When you identify a better way, bring it forward.
Day to day, you will:
- Draft pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, motions, correspondence, and status reports with accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain organized case files, docket critical deadlines, and manage discovery obligations using Litify
- Prepare attorneys for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial: coordinating witnesses, managing exhibits, and handling logistics
- Execute matter plan tasks and keep dashboards, time entries, and matter data current on a daily basis
- Manage the client portal for all assigned matters to ensure clients have real-time visibility into case progress.
- Monitor your work queue proactively, identify issues early, and escalate appropriately
- Conduct legal research into statutes, case law, and court rules to support attorney work product
- Contribute to training, matter plan refinement, and ongoing improvements to the firm’s litigation processes
- Document key conversations with clients and attorneys through timely follow-up emails summarizing what was discussed, agreed upon, and next steps—creating a clear, reliable record on every matter

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience with demonstrated ability to manage the full lifecycle of cases; from intake and pleadings through discovery, trial prep, and post-judgment work
- Comfort operating across complex civil litigation matters, including commercial disputes, creditor rights, construction, or real estate
- Proficiency with case management systems, e-filing platforms, and document review tools (Litify/Salesforce experience a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active matters and competing deadlines simultaneously
- Strong written communication skills: clear, professional, and precise across pleadings, correspondence, and client-facing materials
- A process-disciplined mindset: you follow established workflows, use systems as designed, and bring improvements forward through proper channels
- Client-service orientation: you treat every interaction as a reflection of the firm's reputation
- The ability to work with a high degree of independence once onboarded, while remaining collaborative and coachable
**PREFERRED SKILLS: **
- Direct experience with Litify for matter management and timekeeping
- Familiarity with Florida state and federal court e-filing systems
- A track record of contributing to training, matter plan development, or process improvement initiatives.
- Paralegal certificate or bachelor’s degree
