Role Overview
Lead a team through complex and numerous workstreams.
Communicate effectively to C-suite leadership in connection with high-stakes matters.
Handle highly contentious matters and guide overall strategy on complex and highly technical matters.
Manage outside counsel spend
Independently develop strategy to achieve outcomes
Requirements
Bachelors Degree
Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (JD) from an accredited law school
Minimum of 12 or more years of experience practicing law
Licensed to practice law in North Carolina or Licensed to practice in any state in the US and eligible for admission under North Carolina bar rules
North Carolina regulatory/agency experience
Litigation experience
Understanding of emerging energy issues
Experience in interacting with multiple stakeholders/collaborative groups in reaching multi-party resolutions
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a group of people for long hours under deadline pressures
Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Broad, in-depth knowledge and experience in the energy industry
Knowledge of Duke Energy and its various business operations
Proven communication and interpersonal skills
Sound judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to collaborate as an effective member of the team
Excellent work product and attention to detail
Proven effective legal research and writing skills
Ability to hit the ground running
