Audit existing applications to identify adoption barriers through heuristic analysis, user research, and behavioral data
Define and drive UX strategy for modernization efforts, translating insights into measurable improvements in engagement and task completion
Champion accessibility and inclusive design (WCAG 2.1 AA compliance) as a non-negotiable baseline
Architect and build performant, responsive interfaces using React/Next.js with TypeScript
Experience with Sonatype Nexus Repository Manager for managing build artifacts, enforcing dependency policies, and supporting secure DevSecOps pipelines
Develop reusable component libraries and design systems that scale across multiple products
Integrate data visualization layers (D3.js, Chart.js, or similar) into dashboards that make complex data actionable
Write clean, maintainable code with proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and supporting scripting languages (Python, etc.)
Design and build interactive dashboards surfacing AI/ML outputs, analytics, and operational metrics
Collaborate with data engineers and ML teams to ensure visualizations are accurate, performant, and meaningful to end users
Partner with product managers, backend engineers, and stakeholders to move from problem definition to shipped product
Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git), and agile ceremonies (JIRA)
Clearly communicate design rationale and technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with modeling AI-augmented development practices using tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor as part of your standard workflow
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants as a genuine productivity multiplier, with the judgment to use them effectively on complex, real-world codebase
Requirements
10+ years of hands-on experience in UI/UX design and front-end development, with a portfolio demonstrating measurable impact on user experience
Proven track record of improving adoption or usability on complex enterprise or government applications — not just building new things, but fixing broken ones
Expert-level proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML/CSS
Deep familiarity with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, Recharts, or similar)
Solid understanding of UX research methods: usability testing, journey mapping, heuristic evaluation
Proficiency with Git, JIRA, Jenkins and Sonatype Nexus for artifact management, dependency governance, and secure software supply chain practices
Strong foundation in at least one backend/scripting language (Python, Java, SQL)
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and ML concepts is a strong plus
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, or a related field
US Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Security Clearance
