Develop detailed design packages, including general arrangement drawings, electrical equipment plans, conduit and grounding drawings, relay house layouts, and complete bills of materials.
Perform rigorous self-checking of all drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and neatness before submission to the Lead Engineer for final review.
Conduct essential engineering analyses, including conduit and bus sizing, lighting and lightning protection analysis, grounding grid studies, and AC/DC load calculations.
Ensure all designs align strictly with PG&E Utility Standards, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requirements, and NESC/IEEE codes.
Assist the Lead Engineer and Project Manager in tracking design activities, attending job site meetings to define project scope, and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction.
Guide and coach junior engineering staff and interns, providing technical direction and supporting their professional development.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university.
8+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
