Create accurate ESS designs and full construction drawing sets, including bill of materials, device schedules, cable schedules, elevations, and specifications.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA 101, NEC, BOCA, ADA, UL, and local AHJ requirements).
Maintain drafting standards, templates, design libraries, and as‑built documentation.
Prepare Bluebeam Post‑Sales Project Packets (PSPP) for accurate parts deployment and margin protection.
Deliver all design milestones on schedule and support project documentation requirements.
Manage assigned design projects while maintaining high customer‑satisfaction levels.
Lead a design coordination meeting within one business day of receiving each design request to clarify project intent and sales strategy.
Develop value‑engineered design alternatives when specifications allow, presenting baseline and optional solutions for leadership review.
Produce complete post‑sales project packets for Sales‑to‑Operations handoff, including: Subcontractor scopes and clarifications, Vendor/manufacturer quote review, Component matrices and labeling schedules, Cable schedules and line diagrams, Shop drawings, mounting details, and support specifications, Work breakdown packages in coordination with the Project Manager.
Lead and coordinate final design review meetings via Microsoft Teams.
Provide hands‑on engineering support to Operations, Project Managers, Lead Technicians, and Sales teams after project handoff.
Participate in project kickoff meetings and technical handoff sessions.
Assist with work‑package refinement and installation documentation.
Support system commissioning, testing, and final acceptance as needed.
Participate in technology evaluation committees for emerging security products and solutions.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year (3 years preferred) of experience designing or installing electronic security systems.
Working knowledge of ESS components such as access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related low‑voltage systems.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, relay logic, PLC fundamentals, and construction practices.
Ability to work in construction environments and travel as required.
Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
Effective at managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
Ability to maintain a professional and organized work environment onsite and in the office.
Proficient in: Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, System Surveyor, Procore, Microsoft Visio, PlanGrid
Experience or certification with one or more of the following is highly desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field, AMAG, Lenel, Genetec, S2, Milestone, Exacq, Kantech, Pelco, Avigilon, Autodesk Certified Professional, Other OEM or industry credentials.
