Role Overview
- Lead all phases of project delivery from pre-construction through completion.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource allocations.
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure projects meet quality standards, technical specifications, and contractual obligations.
- Manage heavy civil construction activities including:
- road building
- site preparation
- earthworks
- excavation
- grading
- drainage systems
- bridges and culverts
- utility installation
- Oversee equipment utilization and productivity.
- Coordinate infrastructure and operational support projects within mining environments.
- Ensure compliance with operational requirements for remote and industrial sites.
- Work closely with site superintendents and operations teams to minimize disruptions to production.
- Promote a strong safety culture aligned with:
- WorkSafeBC regulations
- OH&S standards
- Health Safety and Reclamation code for mines in British Columbia
- Mines Act
- environmental legislation
- Conduct risk assessments, safety meetings, and incident investigations.
- Ensure environmental protection measures are implemented and maintained.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking.
- Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, Indigenous communities, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates.
- Support business development activities, tender submissions, and project proposals.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
- PMP certification considered an asset.
- 5–10+ years of project management experience in:
- heavy civil construction
- mining infrastructure
- forestry operations
- resource sector projects
- Strong understanding of:
- BC construction practices
- contract administration
- scheduling software
- cost control systems
- Experience managing remote site operations in Western Canada preferred.
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote project sites
· Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Project
- Primavera P6
- Excel
- AutoCAD (asset)
- ERP/project tracking systems
