About this role
Role Overview
- Administration and support of SQL Server environments (on-premises and/or cloud)
- Continuous performance monitoring and query tuning
- Planning and execution of backup, restore and disaster recovery strategies
- Implementation and management of high availability (Always On, Clusters, Replication)
- Security hardening and access management
- Support for audits and compliance (especially in regulated environments)
- Capacity planning and growth strategy management
- Troubleshooting critical incidents
- Automation of administrative routines
- Support for development teams (data modeling, index review, execution plan analysis)
Requirements
- Strong experience (6+ years) with SQL Server
- Proficiency in T-SQL
- Experience with:
- Always On Availability Groups
- Replication
- Failover Cluster
- Index tuning
- Execution Plans
- Experience with cloud environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS or similar)
- Knowledge of backup policies and disaster recovery
- Monitoring with specialized tools
- Automation scripts (PowerShell is a plus)
- Preferred / additional technical skills:
- Experience with hybrid environments
- Knowledge of DataOps
- Experience with Azure Data Services
- Microsoft certifications
- Experience with high-volume transactional environments
- Proactive mindset (not just reactive)
- Ownership mentality
- Ability to work under pressure
- Clear communication with technical and business stakeholders
- Organizational skills and operational discipline
