About this role
Role Overview
Design, build, and operate the data backbone that powers analytics, dashboards, and AI/ML capabilities for a fast-moving technical organization in direct support of the warfighter
Architect and implement ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines across structured and unstructured sources
Design data models (medallion/lakehouse, star/snowflake, or Data Vault as appropriate) and operate the platform with observability, lineage, data quality, and cost controls
Work hands-on in a modern Microsoft data stack (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2)
Partner with the Power Platform and BI teams to ensure dashboards and apps consume curated, governed data
Implement data governance, security, and access controls aligned to DoD policy
Proactively solve unusual and/or complex problems with little, or no direction given and operate effectively in a fast-paced technical environment supporting senior military leadership
Requirements
Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on data engineering experience in enterprise or DoD environments
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or Scala) for data transformation and pipeline development
Demonstrated experience with Azure data services: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, and Azure SQL
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or equivalent lakehouse platforms
Experience designing dimensional and lakehouse data models for analytics and BI consumption
Working knowledge of CI/CD for data (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), source control, and infrastructure-as-code
