Oversee the custom hitch program from a design standpoint
Conceptualize, design, develop original designs of workable product from verbal instructions and general sketches
Assist in analysis of functional problems such as weight distribution, structural integrity and hydraulics
Prepare design outlines and layouts including graphs, charts, and tables using CAD applications
Write descriptions and parts lists for use by development shop, drafting, purchasing, and materials planning personnel
Review and analyze part or assembly functions in light of established design objectives
Assist Senior Designers by working on a part or sub-assembly of a total project
Operate complex engineering computers and software to accomplish the 3D design, analysis and implementation of the U-Haul product line components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies
Requirements
High School Diploma
2-4 years with a degree; 5-8 years without
Excellent sketching, and 3D computer skills
Primary knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Application of mathematical formulae, physical laws, and fundamental design theory
Skills and experience in oral and written communication; including analysis, preparation and report presentation
Ability to communicate, motivate and organize multiple projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of hydraulics
Actual design of motor vehicle systems
Read and understand blueprints, schematics and complex design drawings
