Equip a select group of Mozambican youth leaders with the technical geospatial skills and pedagogical techniques necessary to become effective mapping trainers.
Ensure trainers can confidently and independently facilitate mapathons and field data collection exercises for DRR and climate action.
Finalize selection criteria document and scoring matrix for identifying ToT candidates.
Complete set of training modules, facilitator guides, and practical exercises fully translated into Portuguese and contextualized for Mozambique.
Successfully deliver the inaugural mapathon, including a brief impact/data-quality report.
Provide ongoing documentation of hands-on support during the rollout of subsequent mapathons.
Prepare all finalized curriculum assets for long-term use by UNICEF/HOT/INGD/CENOE.
Requirements
Advanced proficiency in OpenStreetMap (OSM), JOSM, KoboToolbox/ODK, and open geospatial data ecosystems.
Proven track record in contextualizing pedagogical materials and delivering Training of Trainers (ToT), preferably to youth or community groups.
Native or bilingual fluency in Portuguese (mandatory for independent translation of materials and training delivery) and professional proficiency in English (for reporting/collaboration with HOT/UNICEF/INGD/CENEO).
Demonstrated experience organizing, facilitating, and validating data for medium-to-large scale mapathons.
Experience working with INGOs, UN agencies (UNICEF preferred), or government stakeholders.
Familiarity with the Mozambican context, specifically regarding climate vulnerabilities, DRR, and community engagement in Sofala/Zambézia is highly desirable.
