Role Overview
Play an active role in the delivery of the Council's regeneration programme, which is central to the Torbay Story and to the Council's economic growth strategy.
Manage a proactive professional team who possess detailed knowledge of the condition and composition of Torbay's buildings, bridges, drainage infrastructure, retaining structures and cliffs and coastal assets
ensuring a safe environment is maintained.
Responding to Engineering safety matters, Member enquiries and the concerns of Torbay’s residents quickly, professionally and proportionately.
Providing practical and informative technical advice to Planners, Regeneration Partners, Torbay Harbour Authority, Housing, Estates and delivery teams at the early stages of project development.
Providing high-quality, economic, low carbon and sustainable Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy services across a diverse range of projects to support Torbay Council’s Capital Programme.
Ensure a focused, value for money approach to the planning, design and delivery of priority projects, to maximise the benefits of our internal resources.
The role will see you mentor and support the development of other engineers and technicians, working towards attainment of professional status through the teams Career Grade Progression Scheme.
Requirements
Ability to effectively manage, motivate and lead multi-faceted teams to deliver numerous, often large, complex projects concurrently.
Ability to work flexibly whilst quickly getting to grips with new areas and to encourage others to do so.
Ability to work to tight deadlines ensuring projects are delivered to specification on time and within budget.
Demonstrable experience of both private and public sector schemes.
Forward thinker who is able to identify the potential risks associated with a project and recommend/initiate solutions.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
