Provide legal advice to John Hancock Investment Management and its affiliated companies.
Advise the Company of known risks and assess and report to the appropriate Company officers.
Engage outside counsel after acquiring the necessary approvals.
Provide any other legal advice that management may require.
Actively participate in and support relevant public policy, regulatory and lobbying activities.
Mentor junior counsel(s) and associates.
May lead legal research projects/initiatives and product launches.

Member in good standing with the Bar
Licensed to practice law in the United States
Minimum 5 years prior tried experience with major law firm and/or in-house corporate role
Extensive 1940 Act Experience
Experience with and knowledge of the legislative frameworks
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Outstanding influencing and negotiation skills
Highly organized with validated mentoring and coaching skills
Thoughtful and operates with a high level of discretion
Ability to quickly identify and respond to legal problems/risk.
