At the project level, the construction manager reports functionally to the Air Products Korea Construction Manager
The construction manager is supported by the project support functions within the Air Products organization
Responsible for the total construction effort
Responsible for the overall management and administration of his own project
Must be expert on construction management of safety, quality and schedule
Must provide accurate and on time support related to the construction issues to the project execution team
Monitor and ensure construction contractor's compliance to Air Products Safety Standards, Construction Standards and Procedures
Monitor the work of each contractor and make sure the quality of workmanship and materials meet Contract requirements
Manage the design queries
Review and agree to the schedules and manning levels with the contractors and review update progress during the weekly meetings
Review the work progress on daily basis and prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status and submit daily records, weekly reports and all necessary reports as required
Ensure that the contractors make the arrangements for receipt, inventory, storage, and safe handling of materials and equipment purchased by Air Products that are delivered directly to the job site
Report any problems such as labor shortages, strikes, equipment delivery slippages, etc., to Korea construction team manager
Report to Korea construction team manager any potential safety hazards and unsafe conditions before construction starts on a project
Issue Field Change Request(FCR) according to instructions in the appropriate procedures
Review and approve contractors/suppliers invoices for payment without delay
Approve all CM employee expense report reimbursements
Prepare and submit a Construction Weekly Report to the Air Products Project Team
Coordinate weekly meetings with all Contractors to discuss safety, commercial, technical, quality and schedule issues
Requirements
Bachelor degree or above, majored in construction engineering or equivalent
10+ years working experience in total, 8+ years in construction projects for industrial gas plant construction projects, chemical or petrochemical projects
Ability to multi-tasks, managing several activities at any time
Knowledge of project execution & site management, especially in construction projects
Good communication and interpersonal skills among various functions
Fluent spoken and written English is advantageous
Knowledge and experience of industrial gas projects or any plant construction projects including civil, mechanical and piping, electrical and instrument activities
Experience in construction management and/or construction estimation in international engineering company or high ranked local EPC
Knowledge and experience on construction subcontract management
Knowledge and experience on various construction types of contracts
Has certificates, licenses or experience related to the construction activities
Construction related certificates such as “Engineer Construction Safety” (Korea National Technical Qualification), “Engineer Industrial Safety” (Korea National Technical Qualification) to be assigned to the required project site, Engineer Gas (Korea National Technical Qualification), Engineer Electricity (Korea National Technical Qualification)
