The Vice President Safety Pharmacology & Science reports to the SVP Global Early Development Science and Business Development
Responsible for the leadership, organization and management of the Safety Pharmacology groups in Huntingdon, UK, Harrogate, UK, Madison, WI and Shanghai, China
Safety Pharmacology work performed by Safety Assessment at all other sites
Leadership, organization and management of Immunology, Genetic Toxicology and In Vitro Technology
Overall management and coordination in conjunction with local managers for efficient, high-quality service to both internal and external clients
Recognized Safety Pharmacology expert participating in external Safety Pharmacology consortia and trade organizations such as co-authoring publications and collaborating with industry associations
Works with Business Development to establish and maintain strong relationships with Safety Pharmacology and scientific experts.
Requirements
PhD in Safety Pharmacology, Pharmacology or Toxicology
15 or more years’ experience as a leader in a pharmaceutical or CRO industry
5 or more years of experience in Immunology, Genetic Toxicology or In Vitro Technology (Preferred)
MBA (Preferred)
Strong knowledge of Safety Pharmacology, as evidenced by name recognition in the industry, presentations given, papers published, etc.
Global experience
Direct management of scientific staff
Documented ability to work in a large scientific business with a highly matrixed organizational structure
Familiarity with appropriate regulations in the industry
Capable of effectively functioning and leading in a matrix environment
Accomplishments that reflect teamwork, integrity and accountability.
Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment and deliver quality results in a growing organization.
Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time domestically and internationally.
