Provide legal support to the regional Sales, Commercial Operations, Sourcing, Contract Management, and Project Management teams
Support the tendering phase, including: advising on contractual structures; drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing contracts with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and consortium or business partners; advising on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues under applicable local laws; participating in deal reviews while maintaining independence of judgment and supporting the business in achieving its commercial, operational, and strategic objectives.
Support the execution phase of high-value, complex projects across SEMEA, including EPC/turnkey, design and engineering, LTSA, and O&M projects for both brownfield and greenfield developments, including large-scale projects such as data centers and HVDC projects. This includes: advising on contract amendments, renegotiations, and variation orders; supporting claims management and contract interpretation; identifying and escalating legal and commercial risks; working closely with Contract Management, Project Management, and Sourcing teams to mitigate disputes and litigation risk.
Manage disputes across the SEMEA region in coordination with the GE Vernova Electrification Head of Disputes, including the engagement and supervision of external counsel.
Support the regional joint venture portfolio, including: day-to-day legal support for existing joint ventures; preparation of legal documentation relating to shareholder and board meetings; legal support for the establishment of new joint ventures, including drafting and negotiation of MOUs, JV agreements, shareholders’ agreements, and license/technology transfer agreements; managing interactions with relevant local authorities and regulators.
Assist with the investigation of compliance matters in SEMEA, working closely with the Compliance team and helping to foster a strong culture of integrity and open reporting.
Collaborate with internal functional experts, including Compliance, IP, EHS, Labor & Employment, and Litigation, to develop best practices and provide strategic legal advice.
Work closely with other GE Vernova Electrification legal counsels to contribute to the Legal operating model within the Electrification segment, support legal operational excellence, and promote the practical use of AI and digital tools.
Develop and deliver training on legal and commercial topics for business stakeholders.
Maintain a strong understanding of the relevant industries, markets, and regional environment in order to support the business effectively from a legal and commercial perspective.
Contribute, as needed, to the development of regional and global legal forms, templates, tools, training materials, and best practices across Electrification.
Operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing a broad range of legal matters
This role involves occasional travel within the SEMEA region (less than 10%).
Requirements
LL.B., Master of Laws, J.D., or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
Qualified lawyer and member in good standing of a relevant bar.
Significant post-qualification legal experience (typically around 15 years) in commercial transactions and corporate law, gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house role with international exposure.
Strong knowledge of commercial law and legal practice across the SEMEA region, particularly in relation to high-value contracts and complex projects, ideally in the energy, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
Significant experience in domestic and international contract drafting and negotiation.
Experience in claims management and dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
Strong personal integrity, sound judgment, credibility, and the ability to influence and lead effectively.
Ability to work in ambiguous or fast-changing environments and adapt to unexpected developments.
Strong prioritization skills, with the ability to manage complex issues efficiently and work effectively under pressure and across multiple deadlines.
