About this role
Role Overview
Provide legal advice and counsel on all aspects of real estate development projects, including:
Land and property acquisition and due diligence
Entitlement and permitting
Construction and design agreements
Financing and joint ventures
Leasing and sales
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including:
Purchase agreements
Development agreements
Leases
Construction contracts
Loan documents
Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with real estate development projects.
Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant real estate laws and regulations.
Collaborate with internal teams, including development, finance, and construction.
Interface with external parties, including government agencies, lenders, investors, and consultants.
Stay abreast of legal developments and industry best practices in real estate development.
Requirements
Law degree from a reputable university/law school.
Admission to the bar in the country of residence.
Dual-qualified lawyers are especially encouraged to apply, especially if they are also qualified in a common law jurisdiction.
Bachelor degree in Law.
5+ years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on development and transactions.
5+ years of experience, 2 years in construction/real estate/disputes.
Prior in-house experience with luxury real estate developers is highly desirable.
Must have property management experience.
Strong understanding of real estate development processes and regulations.
Ability to handle complex agreements and sophisticated procurement agreements.
Ability to negotiate all key legal matters and ensure there are no risks for the company.
Ability to identify key factors in a problem and prioritize accordingly.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
English and Portuguese proficiency.
Candidates must have a high enough level of English to prepare agreements.
