As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work at the intersection of engineering, product and customer success.
You understand our customers’ operational challenges, translate them into technical solutions, and support implementation through to go‑live.
You ensure that foodforecast is successfully adopted by our customers and that our product evolves based on real-world use cases.
You work closely with our customers, understand their operational processes, and act as their dependable technical contact.
You develop customer-specific solutions, integrations and workflows using Ruby on Rails.

Experience in a technical role such as Software Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Implementation Engineer or Technical Consultant — ideally in a SaaS or AI/Data environment.
Solid experience in software development with Ruby on Rails and a good understanding of data and machine learning concepts.
Practical experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code), both for building LLM-based features and for AI-assisted software development.
Experience working directly with customers, strong product sensibility, and the ability to translate between business requirements and technical implementation.
Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach with a high degree of ownership and self-responsibility.
Willingness to attend regular on-site meetings with customers, primarily within the DACH region.
Very good German (at least C1) and good English (at least B2) language skills, both written and spoken.
