Provide legal advice to the Claims organization on complex claims, coverage issues, bad faith matters, and extra-contractual allegations.
Conduct factual and legal research and analysis.
Contribute to trial strategy and trial preparation, including evaluating case posture, advising on legal and business risk, coordinating with outside counsel, preparing witnesses, and supporting overall case strategy through trial.
Develop and deliver internal presentations on legal issues and related projects.
Advise GEICO leadership on pending claims-related litigation, emerging issues, and relevant litigation trends.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
5-7 years of litigation management experience at a law firm, or in-house role
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders effectively
Sound judgment in balancing legal risk with business objectives
Trial and/or appellate experience
Experience handling bad faith or extra-contractual litigation against an insurance company.
