Role Overview
- Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
- Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
- Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data
- Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
- May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within assigned system(s)
- Provide technical direction to maintenance personnel team to support routine and non-routine equipment repair work
- Maintain configuration control of PLC programs for NNS systems and equipment
- Produce and/or oversee the development of technical documentation that govern the system design, configuration, and operation of NNS controls systems
- Participate in project design and implementation process for system related projects
- Develop a long-range strategic plan for controls improvements for assigned systems and equipment
- Develop and maintain critical system metrics
- Develop and maintain technical training for junior engineers and controls technicians
- Oversee project/system testing to ensure system meets technical requirements and operates at peak performance
Requirements
- Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
- one of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- Knowledge and experience with: PLC programming and logic development (various programming languages), Robotics/machine automation, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Network Communication Protocols, Relay interfaces, Technical aptitude and understanding of both electrical and mechanical components and how they work together as a system, Development and/or interpretation of electrical, mechanical and controls schematics
