Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within assigned system(s)
Provide technical direction to maintenance personnel team to support routine and non-routine equipment repair work
Maintain configuration control of PLC programs for NNS systems and equipment
Produce and/or oversee the development of technical documentation that govern the system design, configuration, and operation of NNS controls systems
Participate in project design and implementation process for system related projects
Develop a long-range strategic plan for controls improvements for assigned systems and equipment
Develop and maintain critical system metrics
Develop and maintain technical training for junior engineers and controls technicians
Oversee project/system testing to ensure system meets technical requirements and operates at peak performance
Requirements
Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
one of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
Knowledge and experience with: PLC programming and logic development (various programming languages), Robotics/machine automation, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Network Communication Protocols, Relay interfaces, Technical aptitude and understanding of both electrical and mechanical components and how they work together as a system, Development and/or interpretation of electrical, mechanical and controls schematics
