About this role
Role Overview
Determine whether request can be fulfilled from stock inventory or ordered
Issue Purchase Order’s (PO’s) to respective vendors ensuring all details are accurate
Ensure timely purchasing of goods and services
Ensure that all items purchased are received into various systems timely
Ensure that items purchased are physically received and pricing is accurate and agreed upon
Commit company funds at fair market value for items/services, through competitive bids, historical review, or direction of management
Ensure purchasing of goods and services is within the Limits of Authority of the individuals requesting items
Ensure inventory levels are sufficient to support the customer, but low enough that all inventory turns regularly
Complete and respond to all sales enquiries promptly
Ensure follow up on important tasks or issues
Issue and follow up on all shipments to ensure all sales are properly costed and invoiced
Assist in monitoring possible company contracts
Answer general telephone calls and redirect as required
Draft and implement any departmental ISO policies and/or procedures
Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and company safety policies and procedures
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, free of potential hazards
Practice proper ergonomics to prevent strain injuries
Adhere to office safety procedures, including emergency evacuation routes, fire drills, and building safety protocols
Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately
Actively look for and report potential hazards in the workplace
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum
Post-secondary education in purchasing/inventory/accounting/logistics
Five years’ experience in similar role
Maintain a level of education necessary to keep pace company requirements
Working with co-workers to ensure timely completion of purchasing/sales/inventory/accounting tasks
Ensure policies and procedures are being followed
Proficient computer skills
Thorough and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of standard purchasing/inventory/accounting/logistics practices and procedures
Strong planning and problem-solving skills – critical thinking
