Substation Design Technician

Role Overview

• Performs general substation work such as identifying substation equipment and layout requirements
• Reads, interprets, and applies information from manufacturer’s drawings to create construction documents
• Makes detailed drawings depicting existing and proposed locations of facilities
• Creates construction documents including set-up, manipulation, scanning, merging, etc.
• Maintains familiarity with older substation designs and applications while adapting new technology

Requirements

• At least two (2) years experience as a Technician in the Substation line of progression, or the equivalent
• Completed the equivalent of sixty (60) quarter credits in an approved engineering/technical program or a degree recognized by the Department
• Pass an examination as specified by the Department for entrance into this position
• Demonstrated proficiency in drafting standards, symbols, nomenclature, CAD tools, and engineering terms
