Manager, Software Engineering

Role Overview

• Build and lead high-performing engineering teams with a focus on AI fluency, continuous learning, and innovation
• Establish a culture of experimentation, responsible AI usage, and engineering excellence
• Mentor engineers in both core software engineering and AI-assisted development practices
• Own end-to-end delivery of software solutions, ensuring quality, scalability, and reliability
• Drive adoption of modern SDLC practices, DevOps, and automation
• Oversee planning, execution, and delivery across multiple initiatives and teams
• Identify and drive Generative AI use cases to improve products, developer productivity, and operational efficiency
• Partner with architecture and data teams to embed AI capabilities into platforms and services
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies aligned with business goals
• Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, security, and engineering standards
• Provide guidance on system design, data architecture, and integration patterns
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical challenges
• Partner with product, business, and customers to define technology strategy and roadmap
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation
• Drive upskilling initiatives in AI, cloud, and modern engineering practices
• Manage budgets, resource allocation, and vendor partnerships effectively
• Ensure strong governance across security, compliance, and responsible AI practices
• Continuously improve engineering processes using data-driven insights.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including modern cloud-native development
• 3+ years of people leadership experience managing high-performing engineering teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Demonstrated experience leading AI/ML or data-driven initiatives (GenAI exposure strongly preferred)
• Proven ability to lead distributed/global teams and drive outcomes across complex organizations
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern architectures (microservices, event-driven, APIs)
• Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript)
• Deep understanding of data platforms, including data modeling, pipelines, and real-time processing
• Experience designing scalable, resilient, and secure systems
• Working knowledge of Generative AI concepts (LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning)
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into products or workflows (e.g., copilots, automation, NLP use cases)
• Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI, and model evaluation
• Ability to guide teams in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., coding copilots, test generation, automation)
• Expertise in Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation (TDD/BDD)
• Experience with observability, reliability engineering, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with modern engineering productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE)
• Strong experience with resource planning, budgeting, and delivery management
• Proven ability to lead onshore/offshore hybrid models and vendor partnerships
• Skilled in coaching engineers and developing future leaders
• Ability to drive organizational change and technology adoption, especially in AI and automation
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong product mindset with focus on customer value and business outcomes
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
